Qué le pasa a un piano a la intemperie? What happens to a piano in the open?

Los pianos están construidos mayormente en madera. Sólo el armazón o cuadro metálico, cuerdas, clavijas, pedales , tornillos y algunas piezas del mecanismo son de metal. El resto fieltro y algunas telas de lana. En las siguientes fotografías podemos observar el efecto de la intemperie en un piano no muy antiguo. Cerca de un año y medio y el deterioro es terrible tanto en la madera y fieltros como en las piezas metálicas. Podemos afirmar así, que los pianos no son construidos a prueba de agua. The pianos are built mostly in wood. Only the frame or iron frame, strings, tuning pins, pedals, screws and some parts of the mechanism are made of metal. The rest includes felt and some wool fabrics. In the following photographs we can observe the effect of the weather on a piano not very old. About a year and a half and the deterioration is terrible both in wood and felts and in metal parts. We can say that pianos are not built to be waterproof.

Hoy afiné el piano Yamaha de mi amigo G. Y. Hace varios años que lo atiendo. La particularidad que tiene este instrumento es el sofisticado sistema de reproducción mecánica con el que está provisto. En nuestro país no es nada común, si bien he atendido algunos.  Es la versión actual de aquellas viejas pianolas que reproducían música  a través de la información provista por rollos de papel perforado. Today I tuned the Yamaha piano of my friend G. Y. I have been attending it for several years. The particularity of this instrument is the sophisticated system of mechanical reproduction with which it is provided. In our country it is not common, although I have seen some like this one. It is the current version of those old pianos, pianoplayers or autopianos, that reproduced music through the information provided by rolls of perforated paper.
